Overview
Havenwood Village is a 21+ SFW Heavy RP open community.Havenwood is a village in western Mor Dhona that is rebuilding after the mysterious disappearance of its former occupants. This community project was created with the heart of farming sim games to capture the magic, ambience, and cozy setting of some of our favorite farming RPGs. It is a community of neighbors for consistent and immersive roleplay with a shared setting and story to be told. Using player housing owned by the community and various open world locations, we do our best to create Havenwood and a network of roleplay locations tied together by lore and common purpose. This allows us to bring together small venues and personal homes to immerse ourselves in the village and have friendly characters to interact with on a regular basis. Havenwood is an extensive setting with a myriad of plots, lore to be discovered, and a culture of its own.Alongside a community of neighbors, we also offer a number of tabletop-like elements to create shared lore, stories, and events to interact with. This includes several ongoing stories that delve into the mystery of the village and the forest it is in, plots about dangers around the forest, monthly cultural festivals, sporadic village events, and ongoing support to those who create roleplay for others to enjoy and interact with. We offer a simple d20 skill and progression system to allow for RNG in both formal events and everyday roleplay as the players see fit. This allows for characters of all types from farmers to adventurers to interact meaningfully with our stories and lore, and to enjoy some RPG elements. To the best of our ability, we are a lore abiding community. We accept all characters that stay close to lore and don't mind creativity within the vast amount of lore we've been given. However, we do not accept characters that are written to be unrealistically important / powerful, are written around lore from other media or real life, or that simply clash against our cozy cottagecore way of life. This is a high fantasy setting of villagers, so we aren't looking for characters that are completely out of place in that setting. This includes characters that are so overly modded that they don't look like they belong in FFXIV any longer. Common elements we look for in excessive modding include non-canon racial features, excessive resizing, clothing items that are lore breaking, and just generally anything that makes a character out of place in what we've created. While we are lore abiding, we also do not allow community members to lore police each other. We, as officers, will make the call on characters/plots/etc. and whether they fit what boundaries we have set. If you run across something that you may think is moving past those boundaries, let a council member know privately and we will look into it. An individual's interpretation of lore is not the gospel truth, nor can we maintain a friendly, fun environment with people who "Um, actually" their fellow players. Any unsolicited comments or criticisms about lore accuracy will be considered a violation of our rules. We keep our boundaries flexible so that the most amount of people can have fun and be creative as long as it is firmly within the world's lore.We are a 21+ community because we wish to foster a community of adults who are responsible for their own behavior. We have designated ourselves as a "SFW" community because while there are adult themes in some of our plots (which will be marked on the respective plots), this is not a community that focuses on sexual themes and interactions. What people do in private is their own business, this is just meant for community interactions. This doesn't mean that we are prudes or don't giggle at dick jokes, it just means that this community is a safe place and people exhibiting inappropriate behavior IC or OOCly will not be tolerated.
🌺 OOC Rules 🌺
Below are the rules of our community no matter the medium an interaction takes places. If you feel that someone has violated one of these rules, please reach out privately to one of our officers, and provide evidence if possible. We have kept the rules fairly basic because we do not wish to police people and make everything about the letter of the law. Just be good to one another and you will be fine.
🍂 All players must be 21 years old, or older.
🍂 Be respectful of other players. This includes their time, their well-being, and their consent.
🍂 Be responsible for your own emotions.
🍂 Communicate problems, issues, concerns, delays, or anything else ASAP before it becomes an even bigger problem.
🍂 Follow basic RP Rules & Etiquette. (Click here for details)
🍂 Lalafell characters must not have any mention of ERP or sexual themes in any linked profiles or interactions with the community, ICly or OOCly.
🍂Keep roleplay lore abiding to the best of your abilities.
🍂 No lore policing other players in the community.
🍂 No excessively modded characters.
Common Elements of Excessive Mods- Non-Canon Racial Features (appendages your race doesn't have, overly exaggerated racial features, etc.)
- Non-Canon Apparel (anime t-shirts, real world brands, etc.)
- Excessive Resizing (anything more than a few decimals beyond your base racial parameters)
- Excessive Particle/Visual Effects (persistent sparkles, effects, etc.)
We only allow up to 2 characters per player as Residents, which are described in more detail below. We put a fair amount of work getting characters set up onto our website and into our system, so we would appreciate if players would limit the amount of characters they are bringing in. There is no limit on the amount of Traveler characters they have, however.
🌺 The Story 🌺
Mor Dhona, the heart of Eorzea. It was once a land of lush green forests and striking waterfalls. It’s been said that all of the star’s aether eventually leads to Silvertear Lake where it is recycled and renewed, making Eorzea known for its aether rich environment. Being central in Aldenard and the lack of city-state claim made it the perfect place for the Garlean empire to stage its campaign against the realm. However, the father of dragons rose up against the Garlean fleet to defend the vital location. The day that the Agrius and Midgardsormr fell into the lake, Mor Dhona would become a land left changed forever. It would become even further destroyed after Dalamud descended on the Carteneau Flats, leaving Mor Dhona as arguably one of the most scarred places in the world.Unbeknownst to most of the world, there was a peaceful village called Havenwood in a remote area of western Mor Dhona. It was far away from any travel routes between city-states, leaving the villagers there dependent on only one another to survive day to day. Within Vaeloria Forest, few cared about the problems of the world outside. When destruction and change came, somehow the forest was untouched. Not even the villagers knew how they remained unaffected by world altering events, but life continued on as normal. That is, until everyone disappeared. The grandson of one of the village's carpenters spent years trying to discover what had happened to the village to no avail. Any others who knew of the village never went there in fear of disappearing themselves. After the events of the Final Days, he returned to the forest to rebuild the village and grant refuge to those needing a new home. Word was spread and the first villagers arrived in Havenwood, ready to build a new home. It has become a place for pioneers and hard working folk who want a life away from the rest of the world. There are mysteries and danger around every corner, but should the villagers work together, they can weather any storm and protect their way of life.
🌺 Residents, Travelers, & Wanderers 🌺
There are three general distinctions between people in the Havenwood community. Residents are characters that have completed an OOC & IC application process to access all the features and opportunities that the community has to offer. Their profiles are added to this website and they are able to participate in Resident-only events and given first priority to all other events with limited room for participants. They are given an allotment of skill points to used in various events and activities, and gain an additional skill point every new month. Resident owned venues of all kinds are also added to this website and given consistent support and attendance to ensure their efforts are rewarded. In short, Residents are characters that ICly live in Havenwood and live by its rules and culture.Travelers are characters that are visitors to Havenwood. While they won't have access to all the RPG elements, running stories, and other roleplay opportunities, they are free to frequent Resident owned venues, village events that are open to the public (like festivals), and to make contacts with Resident characters and other Travelers for more roleplay opportunities. Becoming a Traveler requires an OOC application and an introductory roleplay, which you can read more about in the Applications section of this site. Travelers are welcome to stay as they are for as long as they want as long as they adhere to our OOC rules and policies, and ICly respect the village that they are visiting.Wanderer is just the title we've given to people who have freshly joined the Discord and haven't applied to be part of the community yet. They have access to some general information and some chat channels, but will not have access to any roleplay information and are not allowed at our events until they've become a Traveler.
🌺 The Village Council 🌺
There is a small village council that exists to aid the ins and outs of the community, both ICly and OOCly. They are essentially the officers of the community, but their main responsibilities are to create and foster roleplay. They are available for any questions, concerns, or help you may need in finding your place within our community. Should you have any questions, they are marked in the Discord and are happy to answer DMs with your inquiries.
🌺 Joining the Discord 🌺
Use the link below to join our Discord server! Once you read over the rules, all you have to do is react to agree to them and you'll get access to the server as a Wanderer.
Applications
Havenwood Village is a setting with a particular lore, story, and style to it. Part of that story is its isolation and remote location. It is not somewhere a character would just wander by. We also wish to focus on story development, character development, and nurturing longstanding bonds between characters, so for these reasons and more we have implemented an application process to gain full access to our community.Traveler ApplicationThe Traveler application is the first step to accessing what the community has to offer. Travelers are characters that do not live in the village, but have completed the OOC and IC process to be introduced to the setting. This will grant you access to our events schedule and other resources in the Discord server. If you're only interested in staying as a Traveler, that is totally fine! Once this process is done you're all set. If you become interested in becoming a Resident, then there is another process to follow.Use the link below to see the process required to become a Traveler.
Residency ApplicationOnce your character has been a Traveler for some time, they can apply for residency. Being a Resident unlocks all the opportunities that the community has to offer. They are also allowed to come to resident-only story events that further the ongoing story of the village using skill rolls and DM style events.Use the link below to see the process required to become a Resident.
Becoming a Traveler
This section will go over what you need to know to become a Traveler and to start roleplaying in our community. Please keep in mind that there are no activity requirements at any level of this community. You are free to participate in roleplay whenever you'd like without fear of being removed for inactivity. While you don't need to be a studied expert on our lore and details, it can be incredibly disruptive to roleplay when someone makes claims that don't make any sense with the details as they are. Below are a few IC things to know about the village to keep your roleplay in line with everyone else. More extensive village lore is laid out in the Archives section of this site. If you ever have any questions, or are unsure about anything, feel free to ask!
🌺 Important Lore Tidbits 🌺
🌱The village is located in Vaeloria Forest which lies in western Mor Dhona. They are under no city-state jurisdiction. The easiest way to get to the village is by taking a ship to Wanderer's Wharf, which is about a day's journey from the village by the western road.🌱There aren't many laws in the village, but the ones they do have are strictly enforced by the Rangers and the village council. These are all fairly typical laws you'd expect from a village including areas of theft, violence, etc.🌱Havenwood has a controlled economic system that is designed to keep foreign influence at bay. Doing any sort of business requires a permit only granted to residents of the village. All imports and exports go through villagers with the proper documentation. Small transactions directly to villagers are allowed, however anything beyond that incurs a financial penalty.🌱The village is a diverse place with residents from all over the world. For story and lore purposes there are NPC villagers that fill out the village, but the population is fairly small. Just because there isn't a player character for something doesn't mean the village is lacking that thing.🌱 The village stays current with the MSQ's most recent timeline. Major events that happen during the game's story that would actually affect the village will be part of our canon.🌱While there is still the usual time bubble convenience of normal roleplay (traveling times, recovery times, etc.), we play out each month as being that month ICly for seasonal flavored roleplay. So if it is, for example, April in the real world, then the community plays it as being the 2nd Umbral Moon and Spring with an upcoming festival to match.
🌺 Coming to the Village 🌺
One of the things we really look at on the application is why your character is coming to the village. It doesn't need to be an extravagant quest filled with paragraphs of details, but "they wandered by" doesn't make sense. The village is, by design, in the middle of nowhere where there is no city-state influence. It would take days of travel to get there from anywhere else. We have provided a couple of maps in the Archives section that you can take a look at to see where the village is. It can be rather easy if your character is interested in moving in, because it can be as simple as "I heard about the village and wanted to check it out to see if I wanted to live here."If you'd like some ideas or have questions on ideas that you are formulating, feel free to reach out and discuss it. We're more than happy to help come up with a narrative that brings your character to the village in a way that doesn't disrupt anything, and gives your character a story that links them with the village. We do allow for multiple characters to enter the setting, but this is done one at a time. Each character must have their own introduction to the village and be approved, however you do not need to fill out the application again. Just shoot a message and set up a time to do the roleplay.
🌺 Applying 🌺
Once you send in your OOC application, we'll look it over and reach out to you on Discord with any questions. If the application is approved, we will also figure out a roleplay scene with you to introduce your character to the village. Once the roleplay is concluded, and we decide that you and your character are a good fit for our community, you'll be given the Traveler status in the Discord and can attend events at your leisure. Once you receive the status, we'll ask you to create a character profile in the appropriate channel for that character. It can be incredibly simple, it is just how we keep track of characters that have been introduced and are ready to roleplay in the setting. Everything you need to know at the beginning of your experience is covered in our #first-steps channel. If you are interested in bringing multiple characters into the setting, please select one for now to complete this process with. Once you have the first character introduced, subsequent characters can be discussed without having to use this application again.Use the link below to start your application.
Residency
This section will go over what you need to know if you'd like your character to become a resident and the process that is required. Please keep in mind that Resident characters are expected to adhere to the rules and spirit of the setting, and are given less leeway than Traveler characters. Just because your character made it through the first application process does not mean that they necessarily fit what we are looking for from Residents. If there are any issues, we will discuss them with you during this process. If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to reach out to one of the village council.
🌺 Before Applying 🌺
There are a couple steps to keep in mind before we will accept an application from someone. First, you need to go through the process to become a Traveler. We do not accept applications for residency until this has been completed. We require potential residents to attend at least one village event before we will take an application. The residency process is involved and requires time from both parties, so we want you to get a taste of what our roleplay actually is before deciding that you want to be a resident. We recommend attending more than this, as it will make the process smoother, but this is the bare minimum requirement. If you put in an application before these two steps, then your application will be ignored and you may be disqualified from applying again.
🌺 Applying for Residency 🌺
Below you will find a link to a google form that is used as both a OOC and an IC application (they are clearly marked so that you know which section is which). The OOC portion is so that we can get a better idea of your thoughts about your character being a resident and where they fit into the village life. The IC portion is for your character to submit their intention to the village council for review. After submitting the form, we will go over it and reach out to you on Discord with any questions or other topics of discussion surrounding what you submitted. Afterwards, we will schedule a time for a roleplay that will have your character meeting with the village council to finalize the process.
🌺 IC Interview 🌺
The IC form filled out in the application is turned into the community center where your character will be given an appointment time to meet with the village council to discuss their residency. This is all considered to have been completed off screen to streamline the process. Interviews are held in the council chambers, which is the first room in the back of the community center. The address of the community center in-game is Plot 12, 3rd Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus. This is also in the Roleplay section of this site with additional information. The interview will include questions about the resident's application, their intentions after moving in, and anything else the council would like to know about the character. It is also a good opportunity for characters to ask questions about life in the village or anything else they'd like to discuss. If the council decides to approve the character's residency, then they will have the character sign their papers and it will be official. You'll be granted the Resident status in the Discord and can start working on your post-residency preparations.
🌺 Post-Residency Preparations 🌺
Once your character is a resident, the last task is to get their information together to put on the website. Your character will not be allowed to certain resident-only events until this process is complete. To see how this looks, you can check out the Profiles section of this site. You will need to submit via direct messages on Discord the following:- Profile information (Name, Race, Age, Nameday, Occupation, & Address)- A brief Biography (around a couple paragraphs)- A picture of your character- (Optional) A link to an external profile for your character- Your character's skill allotments
🌺 Skills 🌺
Rolling for skills is very simple. All skill rolls are a d20 roll that can be done in-game or through our Discord server. The total result of a roll is whatever number the dice shows + your character's skill modifier, which will be explained further below. (The benefit of doing it in Discord is that you can add your modifier right into the roll). These can be done at any time for a little spice to your roleplay, to settle an IC competition/dispute, and/or at major Havenwood events. For instance, perhaps at a festival the village holds a vegetable competition. All those that bring vegetables and compete roll their Farming skill, and the highest result wins the contest.Any roll of 20 is considered a Critical Success and automatically passes whatever roll, and will only be compared with modifiers if there is another roll of 20. On the other end, any roll of 1 is considered a Critical Failure. After becoming a resident, you are allotted 100 skill points to distribute among the below skills as skill modifiers. Getting up to +5 only requires one skill point per rank up, however after that it slows down. +6 and higher requires 2 skill points to rank up. As an example, if your Body skill is at +7, it will require 2 more skill points to get it to +8. Every new month you get another skill point to spend, so you are able to leave points at the .5 mark. It won't add another number to your roll, but it will indicate that you're halfway to leveling up that skill. All skills max out at +10.Below is a google sheet that you can copy and that will help you navigate the math required to allocate your skill points. The "Level" column is where you put how high you would like your character's skill to be. The "Cost" column will automatically populate how many of your 100 points it will take to get it there. Do not put anything into the Cost column or it will erase the formulas. There is a running total of your points spent/remaining to help you see how much you have left.
If you'd like to see some examples of how other characters have distributed their skills, check out the Profiles section.

Vaeloria Forest

Hobble Creek
Location: Central Shroud - Mateus

Lotus Lake
Location: Central Shroud - Mateus

Location: East Shroud - Mateus
Map Position: ( X:17 , Y:17 )Hidden within treacherous brambles lies an old temple dedicated to the Twelve. One of the guardians of the forest revealed an illusory wall of brambles that allows entrance to the temple grounds. It seems to be a key location in the ongoing mystery of the forest's past.
The Tangled Grove
Location: Central Shroud - Mateus
Map Position: ( X:15 , Y:25 )One of the most dangerous places in the western forest is the Tangled Grove. It is full of treants and other woodland threats that will attack anyone who comes near. At the heart of the grove is a giant tree that none have been able to get close to in generations.

Croaker's Hollow
Location: South Shroud - Mateus
Map Position: ( X:18 , Y:29 )At the northern edge of the forest is a swamp full of morbol, adamantoise, and other creatures. It gets its namesake from the abundance of frogs that populate the area. It is relatively safe compared to some areas of the forest, but caution is advised with the amount of dangerous wildlife.
Mount Drachus
Location: Urqopacha - Mateus
Map Position: ( X:17 , Y:28 )The peaks of Mount Drachus can be seen from almost anywhere in the forest. While abundant with natural resources, it is a dangerous area. Map Position: ( X:25 , Y:27 )Just outside of Wanderer's Wharf is a guarded checkpoint where the Rangers check for trade permits of the numerous merchant caravans heading towards and from the village.
The Western Road
Location: Middle La Noscea - Mateus
Map Position: ( Whole Map )The region between the forest and Wanderer's Wharf is fairly barren except for some wildlife and the bandits that attack travelers along the road. While the Rangers do their best to maintain the safety of the road, it is too large to keep completely safe.

Driftwood Shore
Location: Eastern La Noscea - Mateus
Map Position: ( X:36 , Y:27 )The entire shore south of Wanderer's Wharf is called the Driftwood Shore, though many often refer to a specific place along the shore that is a mostly cleaned up beach that villagers can use for leisure. Most of the coast is littered with driftwood and other debris from sunken ships.
Resident Venues
Resident Venues are venues that are owned and operated by residents of Havenwood, and are ICly located within the village. Venues that are featured on this page can use the #havenwood-venues channel in the Discord server, and are free to use the @Venue Opening tag to ping people in that channel when your venue is opening up.ICly non-housing locations need to get a permit approved through the village council. If you'd like to set up a Havenwood venue just click the link below to go to our venue permit form. It will ask you some basic information about your venue that we will use to add it to the website here if it's approved. There is a limit of one venue per character. Since you are allowed maximum 2 characters, no one can have more than 2 venues listed at any given time. This is to ensure that venue locations are actually being run consistently, and to leave themes/ideas/etc. open for other characters to explore. If you put in a venue form, shoot a message to Gaz to let me know. I don't check that form often so just poke me.
